Swimming, swimming in the swimming pool

Published by Jenn under The kids Edit This

When you adopt older children, you miss a lot of firsts. With Danny and Lina, we’ve missed their first steps, first words, and so many more we’ll never even know we missed. So the firsts we DO get to share with them are extra special.

Last Sunday was our first trip to a swimming pool.  Rome has been in a swimming pool only once, last summer in hotel pool in Baltimore, in the middle of our move here to Germany (he was, shall we say, unimpressed). For once, we actually had some warm, sunny weather, and our friends invited us to join them at the Kallebad here it town. This pool was AWESOME. For a look at the pool, click here. The kids had a blast, and so did the grown-ups.

It turns out Lina is our guppy - she loves the water!  She was absolutely fearless, even when she slipped and ended up completely submerged.  She came up sputtering and smiling! Rome said the water was “told” (cold), and spent most of his time chasing a beach ball around and wading up to his ankles, staying in the sun. Danny really enjoyed splashing around, and will definitely benefit from some swimming lessons in the near future. We had such a great time, and the pool is set up so nicely for little ones.  There is a huge grassy area all around the baby pool, where you can set up your chairs or beach towels and watch the little ones play, and it’s great for kids and grown-ups alike.

Here’s a few pictures of our day at the pool!

And here is the one and only picture of the three kids together - it took popsicles to make it happen.
